WTA presents Horizon Manila: Manileño to Manila Mayor Isko Moreno

September 2, 2020November 6, 2020 WTA

WTA Horizon Manila Team with JR Legazpi and Mayor Isko Moreno

Principal Architect William Ti of WTA Architecture and Design Studio presents the Manileño: Horizon Manila proposal to Manila Mayor Isko Moreno last September 1, 2020.

Along with WTA Seniors, Fernando Cunanan and Jeffrey Cheah, William Ti shares the vision for Manila that seeks to reclaim the city for the people. The proposal introduces a community driven development that seeks to rediscover and embrace the city’s role as the heart and soul of Filipino society.

The proposed masterplan takes advantage on the development’s unique site by integrating canals to connect the different islands. This strategy extends itself onto the planning of the districts and creates a porous and publicly accessible fabric of urban blocks.

Horizon Manila scale model

Manila Mayor Isko Moreno signs off on the Horizon Manila land allocation plan last September 18, 2020. Projected with six to eight years to complete, the city council sets the reclamation project to begin by the second half of 2021.

Manileño Horizon Manila’s development strategy involves ensuring that properties have corresponding community spaces. This encourages a healthy and balanced lifestyle for its residents. Manileño optimizes the ratio between open spaces, green spaces and density with varied FARs among the neighborhoods. This strategy aims to enable an increase in affordability, variety, sustainability and opportunity for the people.
