Rivers are the lifeblood of our cities. Our greatest cities began and grew around the world’s great rivers. Rivers form the richest landscapes on our planet earth. From the fields to the cities, riverscapes bustle with life. So much of humanity and nature are bound to the river’s ebb and flow.

Manila’s story began at the mouth of the Pasig River. An essential artery of life, transportation, and commerce for our city. This is where the heart of our city lies. The origin of the Tagalog people.

The rehabilitation of our beloved Pasig River has been worked on by many administrations, partner organizations, and business leaders throughout the years. The hopes and aspirations of so many Filipinos wax and wane with the ebb and flow of our river. The Pasig Bigyang Buhay Muli project is a "people-centric and community-driven" vision of the river by President Bongbong Marcos and First Lady Liza Araneta Marcos. It is an incredible endeavor led by DHSUD Secretary Jerry Acuzar. The project envisions a holistic and sustainable riverfront for the Pasig River that can serve as a driver for economic growth and development.

The showcase area in front of the Manila Central Post Office has been launched last January 17 as a window into what the Pasig River can be. The Pasig River Development Project is a three-year journey that will finally create a walkable and clean pedestrian core for Metro Manila.

The collaborative masterplan by WTA and PGAA embraces the entirety of the river from Laguna Lake to Manila Bay including its various tributaries. It creates a vital piece of social infrastructure along the entire 25km length of the Pasig that serves as an open and free socio-cultural hub that connects our communities. Across nine segments that highlight the various component cities along the river, the project supports an urbanism that puts focus on our communities and the human environment.
