The Palo Leyte Hotel takes advantages of its surrounding natural and built environment. In addition, the rich vegetation and scenic views of the sea create visual site features. In respect to the existing structures with the lot, the design takes an L-shape form. Correspondingly, this allows the evolution of character accentuated with bamboo frames. The design aims to promote Leyte’s indigenous materials.
The interior design concept narrates the essence and beauty of the Bamboo rain forest which is also deeply rooted in the Philippine culture. It evoked the feeling one would get standing beneath a vast rain forest. Furthermore, the exterior bamboo frames create a play of shadows into the interior. Bamboo inspired interiors are found in the lobby, lounge, hotel rooms and amenity floor. Along with this, intricacy to detail, rich texture, and powerful vertical lines bring character to the spaces.
