Library Management Associate
2025
San Juan, Manila
Full Time
WTA is at the forefront of advocating for library access among Filipinos, especially the youth, regardless of social background, with The Book Stop as an architectural solution to share libraries to communities. WTA Labs, a research institute WTA is currently developing, would also produce research and projects on Filipino cities and communities, on their problems and reimagining a future where Filipinos have a stake in shaping and reshaping their spaces.
The Library Management Associate would look after the Book Stop, its operations and explore potential endeavors for the enrichment of the library and of the communities they belong to. You would also be a key personnel in WTA Labs, particularly in the publishing of works, as well as management of online libraries, databases and repositories.
At WTA, you could look forward to a conducive environment with rewarding and impactful deliverables that improve how we Filipinos live in the city. You would be given a space to explore innovations and professional development opportunities.
WTA Labs+.
WTA Labs is a research initiative / research institute that captures our curiosities into action; pursuing questions about our cities and environments towards a collective effort of making them better.
WTA Labs adds to our proactive initiatives of being involved in the shaping and reshaping of our spaces; a thrust forward in advancing discourse on Filipino cities and spaces, engaging with Filipino communities who have a direct stake at the ever-dynamic places we inhabit.
Part of WTA Labs is to build and manage an online repository of research outputs, of various forms, becoming an open-source library of research on Filipino cities and spaces.
The Book Stop.
The Book Stop Project reimagines the core program of a library as a place for books and reading, a space for human interaction, and a platform for learning. With an extensive collection, The Book Stop is a network of mobile spaces spread across the city each garnering far more foot traffic than the typical library. In a modern society where no library or bookstore can beat the collection of books that are available online, the Book Stop refrains from trying to reinvent the purpose of libraries. It instead works on rethinking the physical architecture and the distribution system of libraries, emphasizing casual serendipity and ease of access.
The Book Stop is a pop-up public library network that explores how libraries need to evolve to engage with and attract contemporary users and promote reading in the next generation, as well as galvanize communities by creating community events where people can interact and share ideas. The project is intended to serve three distinct functions with a social component, a research component, and a program prototype component.
With its open “Get a Book, Give a Book” framework, the practice of reading can have the potential of being a collective experience for community members. Currently, there are three book stops and three more underway, with the first one, notably opened in Intramuros, in Plaza Roma, in 2016.
